The Role

Q5D Technology are recruiting a Supply Chain Engineer who will be part of the company’s operations team and will report the company COO. The Supply Chain Engineer will be tasked with leading the supplier management activities. The Supply Chain Engineer duties include building and maintaining strong relationships with new and existing suppliers. The Supply Chain Engineer will develop a streamlined and responsive supply chain operation and managing the stock control system with the Engineering team. Part time will be considered.

  • Working closely with the Engineering team to ensure we have purchased items available in a timely manner to meet our growth requirements.
  • Demonstrating excellent communication, providing clear visibility of purchasing status to the team and working to identify alternative options for high-risk items
  • Negotiating contracts, improved pricing and terms of business with suppliers.
  • Minimising risk to the business by utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods. Identifying process bottleneck and implement solutions in a timely manner
  • Work with the Finance and Engineering team to managing the purchase order processing and goods in processes. Including developing and implementing purchasing and contract management procedures and terms and conditions.
  • Defining our stock control and supplier management strategy, selecting and implementing appropriate systems.
  • Managing the Approved Supplier list, including selecting and evaluating suppliers, undertaking performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and manage performance and quality improvement activities. Working with finance, sales and engineering teams to determine the best supplier selection.
  • Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
  • Working with the engineering team to develop BOMs, purchase item requirements, review and approve engineering drawings, support the Engineering Change Request process.
  • Staying current and up to date on any changes that may affect the supply and demand of required products and materials and advise others of any impact
  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive supply chain strategy.
  • Ensuring purchased component compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Experience

Necessary

  • Experience in a similar role within a manufacturing or engineering business
  • Experience working on complex projects and liaising with engineering teams
  • Previous track record in technical activities – supporting NPI, working with drawings, NCRs etc

Desirable

  • CIPS qualified or studying CIPS desirable
  • Basic CAD experience
  • Familiar with a range of manufacturing techniques
  • Experience detailing and understanding technical drawings GD&T etc

About Us

Q5D is a young, fast-growing company that is developing robotic machinery to add electrical function to products in the aerospace, automotive and other industries. Q5D’s technology uses additive manufacturing techniques and laser-sintered printed electronics combined with sophisticated CAD/CAM software to automate manufacturing. The successful candidate will report to the company CTO and software manager working as part of a growing team of software and design engineers to develop the Computer Aided Manufacturing toolset needed to realise designs on Q5D’s robotic tools.
