Q5D is seeking an engineer to work as part of an inventive and creative engineering team to help design and build Q5D robotic machine tools.

Q5D is a young, fast growing company that is developing robotic machinery to add electrical function to products in the aerospace, automotive and other industries. Q5D’s technology uses additive manufacturing techniques and laser-sintered printed electronics combined with sophisticated CAD/CAM software to automate manufacturing.

The successful candidate will report the company CTO working as part of a growing team of software and design engineers to develop the control systems for Q5D’s robotic tools.

Responsibilities and Duties

  1. To work with the software team and design engineers to develop the control software for the Q5D robotics and automation
  2. Create efficient algorithms for the calibration and control of the tooling
  3. Clear and concise annotation and documentation
  4. Knowledge of data structures and designing for performance
  5. Planning and reporting work
  6. Methodical testing and debugging
  7. Write reports and give internal presentations on progress

Renumeration

Experience

  • Good programming skills in high-level languages – We currently use C, zeroMQ, Java
  • Knowledge of SoC, FPGA (Xilinx)
  • Experience with automation protocols, eg etherCAT, Modbus, CAN, SPI, RS232/422
  • Knowledge of electronics and hardware schematics
  • Image processing (eg OpenCV, MATLAB)
  • 2 years or more experience of programming in a relevant industry
  • Good mathematical skills
  • Knowledge of algorithms
  • Experience of working in a project environment, eg Jira, Agile, Scrum
  • Experience is development of machine tools, eg synchronous movements
